Tiruchi airport expansion project set to take wings

Quoting sources, a report in The Hindu said a formal government order is expected to be issued soon. The administrative sanction came after the issue was taken up once again at the highest level/

The runway expansion was needed to handle wide-bodied aircrafts, which cannot land at the Tiruchi airport now because of runway length restriction, it said.

“The Airports Authority of India (AAI) had proposed to extend the runway from the existing 8,000 feet to 12,500 feet,” it added.
