Rajahmundry airport expansion gets environment clearance

Green nod has been given to runway extension at Rajahmundry airport, for the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has received environment clearance for the project.

“The Environment Ministry has given the final clearance to AAI for expansion of the Rajahmundry airport runway,” a senior official was quoted as saying by PTI.

The present airport at Madhurapudi village is currently handling about 12 operations daily and the operating capacity is about 225 passengers an hour.

Meanwhile, the estimated cost of the expansion project is Rs 181.45 crore
