PowerGrid commissions Champa-Kurukshetra line

PowerGrid Corporation has announced the commercial commissioning of the Champa-Kurukshetra Pole-I electricity transmission line.

In a statement, it said, “Trial operations of 1,500 mw, Pole-I of 800 kv HVDC Champa-Kurukshetra transmission system has been successfully completed and the pole has been put to commercial operations.”

The statement further said that the power transmission system is part of interconnector transmission system for IPP projects in Chhattisgarh.

With the commercial operation, the Champa-Kurukshetra HVDC transmission line has been commissioned at a total cost of about Rs 6,300 crore. Further, Pole-II of 1,500 mw capacity is also expected to be commissioned by June 2017.
