The Union government has approved the 1.18-km underground Metro Rail extension from Najafgarh to Dhansa bus stand at a cost of Rs 565 crore.
Of the total cost, the Centre will bear Rs 107 crore in the form of 50 per cent equity (Rs 75.50 crore) and subordinate debt.
While the Japanese International Cooperation Agency will provide Rs 323 crore, the rest will be borne by the Delhi government, including equity (Rs 75.50 crore) and subordinate debt.
This extension is scheduled for completion by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) by 2020. This is expected to cater to an additional 10,000 passengers daily.
