Mega hydro project to start in Himachal Pradesh

A hydro electric project worth Rs 800-crore, which will produce 100 MW power, will bepartially commenced this month in Himachal Pradesh.

The project constructed by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) is located in Kullu district of the state.

A spokesperson of the company said the project funded by the Asian Development Bank, will generate 322 million units (MU) per annum. The state is expected to earn revenue of Rs 100 crore by selling electricity from it.

Meanwhile in a statement, HPCL Managing Director Devesh Kumar said the first unit of the project will start generation by May 20 and the second unit by next month.
