KPT acquires contract for Kochi-Bangalore Gas Pipeline Project

Kalpataru Power Transmission (KPT) has acquired a Rs two billion contract for GAIL’s Kochi-Koottanad-Bangalore/Mangalore (KKBM) Gas Pipeline Project.

Scope of work is to lay a 131 km pipeline along two stretches in Kerala from Valapattanam in Kannur district to Ayanchery in Kozhikode district and from Ayanchery to Areakode in Malappuram district.

The line is part of the Kochi-Mangalore pipeline section.
The Rs.32.6 billion KKBM pipeline project was announced in June 2000. About 1,104 km pipeline was proposed to be laid in two phases.

Phase-I included laying a 41 km pipeline between Kochi and Koottanad in Kerala which was commissioned in 2012. The remaining 1,063 km pipeline will come up in Phase-II. Of which, a 438 km line will be set up between Kochi and Mangalore via Koottanad. While the balance 625 km pipeline will be laid from Koottanad to Bangalore.
