The state government of Karnataka has planned to set up four desalination plants, in a bid to address the water crisis.
The plants will come up in Udupi, Mangaluru, Saligrama and Kunapura.
While the Udupi plant will come up at a cost of Rs 735.30 crore, Mangaluru project will be set up at a cost of Rs 2533.61 crore, Saligrama plant at Rs 76.71 crore) and Kundapura facility at Rs 154.42 crore.
The total cost is estimated at Rs 3500 crore. All these plants will come upwith the joint venture of Israel-based IDE and Vagas of Indian firm.
