Intex to invest Rs 200 cr in AC biz

Intex Technologies is betting big on consumer durable business, as the company is planning to invest Rs 200 crore to produce air-conditioners from manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh.

An established player in the affordable mobile segment, the firm is now eyeing to make inroads into ACs, washing machines and LED television sets segments.

Keshav Bansal, director, Intex Technologies, said, “We are ramping up production of consumer durables including air-conditioners and hope to see the segment grow from 25 per cent to 40 per cent in next two years,”

Elaborating on the company’s ACs, he said, “Our air-conditioners reduce 30 per cent power consumption as compared to any other brand. For the last three years, we are seeing 100 per cent growth in consumer durables.”
