Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar has laid the foundation stone of Panasonic India’s first refrigerator plant in Jhajjar’s Dadri Toa village.
Manish Sharma, president-cum-CEO, Panasonic India, said, “The company plans to invest Rs 115 crore and create a comprehensive ecosystem for manufacturing appliances in the Indian market.
The operations will begin from January 2018 and refrigerators will be available in the market from April 2018. It will give impetus to local manufacturing and offer value-based products, in line with government’s ‘Make in India’ vision,”
Spread over 10,000 sq mt, the plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 500,000 units.
In his address, Khattar said the Haryana Government had taken major initiatives to improve the “Ease of Doing Business” by simplifying procedures, reducing waiting period, improvement of business environment and introduction of information technology to make governance more efficient and effective.
He said Panasonic would provide jobs to 1,000 people at its new plant and the government hoped it would prefer skillful local youths in providing them employment.
