First phase of Kochi Metro Rail to be flagged off next month

E Sreedharan, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Principal Advisor, has said a 13 km stretch of Kochi Metro will be opened in April this year.

Speaking to reporters after he had a meeting with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Sreedharan said, “The inauguration of the 13 km stretch from Aluva-Palarivattom will be held in April this year.”

Though only six to seven km stretch is normally inaugurated in the first phase, 13 km stretch is being inaugurated in the initial phase itself in Kochi.

It is learnt that the exact date for the inaugural event will be fixed once the Railway safety commisisoner gives his nod after inspecting the project.
