BHEL commissions 1320 MW supercritical power project

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has announced successfully commissioning a 1320 MW IB Thermal Power Station (2x660MW) in Odisha.

Located in Jharsuguda district of Odisha, the project is owned by Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC), a joint venture company of the Government of Odisha and AES, a US-based energy company.

Earlier, BHEL had set up two units of 210 MW at IB Thermal Power Station which are in operation for more than 20 years.

Recently, BHEL announced winning an order worth Rs 450 crore for supply and installation of emission control equipment for a Bhilai expansion power project in Chhattisgarh.

In a statement, the state-run engineering major said, “Valued at around Rs 450 crore, the order has been placed… by NTPC-SAIL Power Company (a joint venture of NTPC and SAIL.”
