Arun Smelters gets green nod for expansion

Tamil Nadu based Arun Smelters has received environmental clearance for its proposed expansion of steel melting plant from 19200 TPA to 85200 TPA.

The facility is located at SIPCOT Industrial Complex, Pappankuppam village, Gummidipoondi taluk of Thiruvallur district, which is close to the capital city of Chennai.

The project has planned to expand the production capacity of Arun Smelters Private Limited’s steel melting plant. The proposed expansion will take place in its existing industry premises.

It was reported that the existing plant is secondary metallurgical processing industry established before EIA notification 2007 and does not attracts the provisions of EIA notification vide 60(E) dated 27.1.1994.
