Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu has said the NDA government is taking all measures to improve civil aviation in the country by building new airports and also improving the existing ones.
He said while speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony at the Gannavaram airport for construction of an integrated terminal complex at a cost of Rs 611 crore.
The first international flight between Vijayawada and Singapore also took off from Gannavaram Airport in Vijayawada on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu said, “Connectivity is the key for the economic development of the country. India has a huge potential to become a global aviation hub for MRO (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) as the aviation business is growing and there is a pool of talented engineers and labourers ready to work for less money.”
