Work starts for cruise terminal in Kochi

Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam has laid the foundation stone for a new cruise ship terminal at Kochi Port.

Spread over 2,253 sq m, the terminal will be equipped to handle 5,000 tourists at a time. It will be the second terminal in Kochi and is slated for commissioning in February 2020.

Out of the estimated cost of Rs 25.72 crore, Rs 21.41crore will be provided as grant by the Ministry.

Speaking at the event, Kannanthanam said the Tourism Ministry is taking steps to attract five million cruise tourists to India by 2040.
