The Central and the Andhra Pradesh governments have sanctioned a Light Metro Rail project, to be taken up at a cost of Rs 8,000 crore.
As per the agreement, the Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) will bear 50 per cent of the project cost, while the remaining would be taken care of under the PPP-mode and oversight of the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA).
Recently, officials called on with AMRC Managing Director N P Ramakrishna Reddy and Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana.
Talking to journalists, VUDA Vice Chairman P Basanth Kumar told reporters that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) would be prepared and sent soon.
