Vivo has announced ramping up of the manufacturing capacity of its Greater Noida facility at an investment of around Rs two billion.
The Chinese handset maker, which has already invested about Rs three billion in the plant, has also added surface-mount technology (SMT) lines to the unit.
It said in a statement: “The facility has increased production to more than 2 million units per month, reiterating Vivo’s commitment to ‘Make in India’. The newly added SMT lines are catering to the growing demand for Vivo smartphones in the country, including flagship devices like NEX and X21.”
Vivo India Chief Marketing Officer Jerome Chen said, “Our latest flagship – the NEX – has been manufactured at this facility which has been made possible through our consistent efforts and commitment towards making the region a manufacturing hub for our smartphones.”
