Vice-President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, inaugurated the seventh facility of KIMS Hospitals in Vishakapatnam, called KIMS ICON Hospital.
The 434-bed hospital by the healthcare major is spread across 17 acres. With two million sq ft area, itt offers all the medical services in 30 departments with expertise in superspeciality and emergency care.
According to Bhaskar Rao, MD & CEO of the group, with the addition of the hospital, the KIMS chain has 2,554 bed strength in its network of 7 hospitals in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
These are two in Hyderabad and one each in Nellore, Rajahmundry, Srikakulam, Ongole. The healthcare major is on an expansion mode both with independent hospitals and specialities and is looking to other cities in the South.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah Naidu said while doctors and hospitals were providing the best, the focus should be on preventive care and early management of diseases. The modern lifestyle and eating habits influenced by the West were impacting the health of people and needs a serious re-examination.
