The Odisha government has agreed to provide all support for establishment of an urea manufacturing unit at the site of the defunct plant of Fertiliser Corporation of India (FCI).
It is learnt that the project will be approved by the Government through the single window process.
After a high-level meeting with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Talcher fertiliser plant JS Saini, Chief Secretary AP Padhi said, “The Centre will set up a new fertilizer manufacturing unit on the premises of the old plant of the FCI in Talcher. The State Government will provide required support for setting up the new urea unit.”
Speaking to reporters, Saini said the urea plant is likely to be operational in February, 2021. The facility will be set up with an investment of `8,000 crore by a consortium comprising FCI, Gas India Limited (GAIL), Rashtriya Chemical and Fertilizer Limited and Coal India Limited.
