Union govt gives nod to AIIMS in Hyderabad

The Union government has given nod to set up All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bibinagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad in Telangana.

Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has sent a formal communication in this regard to A Shanti Kumari, principal secretary (Health, Medical and Family Welfare), Telangana government.

The state government has been asked to acquire another 49 acres of adjacent land for this project.

Only recently, the Centre approved setting up an AIIMS near Madurai in the south of Tamil Nadu, in a bid to ensure that quality healthcare reaches out to southern parts of the state.
