The Union Cabinet has cleared Kerala’s three highway projects including the Beypore- Malaparamba four-lane road under the mega Bharatmala project.
A decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
The Centre has given nod for the 18.4 km road connecting Beypore Port to Malapparamba junction in Kozhikode, Kerala. The project will provide vital road connectivity from Beypore Port to NH-766.
The project which is estimated to cost around Rs 400 crore envisages a 2.9 km long elevated highway which is expected to solve the issue of traffic congestion in the city to a great extent. It will be implemented by the National Highways Authority of India under the Bharatmala Pariyojana by linking it with the Sagarmala project of the Ministry of Ports.
