TWAD Board to set up sewage treatment plant in Coimbatore

A sewage treatment plant will be set up at Vellalore dump yard by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board to treat sewage from the 14 wards of Kurichi and Kunniyamuthur regions.

According to the board, the plant would be set up at a cost of Rs 48 crore and it would be part of the ongoing underground drainage (UGD) work.

An official was quoted as saying in a TOI report: “We had floated the tender a few weeks ago and we are in the process of finalising the contractor. The construction work would commence after awarding the contract.”

The entire project cost is pegged at Rs 577.77 crore and it will be funded by the Asian Development Bank.
