The Transmission Corporation of Telangana Ltd (TS-Transco) will strengthen its power transmission network with an estimated cost of Rs 6,000 crore.
It will erect new lines and set up new sub-stations. These are being done keeping in mind the demand for the upcoming lift irrigation projects.
Chairman and Managing Director of the power utility, D Prabhakar Rao, submitted a detailed report on the Transco’s plans to meet the demand from lift irrigation projects to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao
In the report, the Transco has estimated that the power requirement for all lift irrigation projects and schemes by 2020 would be about 11,500 MW.
Rao said the work on strengthening the transmission network for lift irrigation projects was being carried out parallelly along with the work on the projects.
