Inspired by the model of Taiwan’s Hsinchu Science Park, which generates annual revenues of over NT$1 trillion (about Rs 2.34 lakh crore) from nearly 500 tenant firms, the Tamil Nadu government has rolled out red carpet to investors.
According to an ET report, the state government has called infrastructure developers on the prospects of a manufacturing and research cluster for information and communication technology companies to replicate the model of Taiwan’s Hsinchu Science Park.
It quoted state industries secretary K Gnanadesikan as saying: “We have begun reaching out to firms capable of developing such a park in Tamil Nadu. While it is still in the ideation stage, we believe we can create interest around the concept.”
Another official reportedly said the industrial park was envisaged to accommodate a diverse set of companies from electronic hardware makers to software design studios to phone makers.
