Texa Instruments gets nod from Karnataka govt for Rs 995 crore unit

Texas Instruments (TI), the US-based semiconductor company, has received approval from the Karnataka government to establish a Rs 995-crore design and manufacturing unit.

The unit will come up at a tech park near the Bengaluru international airport. The facility, which will provide employment to 2,100 persons, will include a semiconductor software design and testing unit.

Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board will provide 15 acres in the business park. An order has been recently issued by the department of commerce and industries in this regard.

According to TI, it is evaluating site expansion options to accommodate its business needs. It is to be noted that TI was one of the first foreign companies to set up a technology centre in Bengaluru three decades ago.
