Telangana seeks Rs 3,418 crore from Union govt for Pharma City

Telangana State Industries Minister K T Rama has urged the Central government to provide financial assistance of Rs 3,418 crore for the upcoming Hyderabad Pharma City (HPC) project towards infrastructure development.

In separate letters to Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and Union Minister of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan, he also requested supply of natural gas to the industries in Pharma City.

The Minister requested the Central government to provide a ‘Grant in Aid’ of Rs 1,318 crore for implementation of external infrastructure linkages and another Rs 2,100 crore towards internal infrastructure development under Phase-1.

Rama Rao that the Hyderabad Pharma City (HPC) is the world’s largest Integrated Pharma Park to promote domestic manufacturing of pharmaceuticals in line with the Union government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and also consolidate leadership position of India in the global pharmaceutical sector.

He added: “Telangana government reassures its commitment towards development of a world-class Hyderabad Pharma City and promoting competitive domestic manufacturing of pharmaceuticals under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
