Suzuki Motorcycle India (SMIPL) will invest around Rs 600 crore to set up its second manufacturing facility in the next two years.
According to Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India, the existing plant at Gurugram in Haryana has a capacity of 10 lakh units per annum, and to expand the capacity, the company needs to have a second plant.
He added: “We are studying right now and in a couple of months decide on where the facility will come up. We will need around Rs. 600 crore just for the plant structure.”
Uchida said it will make sense to build the new plant around the existing facility because of the availability of the supply chain here.
