SLCM has decided to add around 2,000 new warehouses to its fold and has also planned to double its capacity in next 18 months.
The post-harvest agri warehouse management services provider currently manages 2,863 warehouses with a throughput of 686.60 million tonnes.
Sandeep Sabharwal, CEO, SLCM Group, said, “The agri-warehousing market in India is highly fragmented. Most of the warehouses do not have scientific warehousing management system and hence are unable to scale up their operations.”
He added: “Some of the players want to quit the industry as the demand for scientifically managed warehouses is increasing. We intend to consolidate this market. We are talking to several such players and in next 18 months we hope to double our capacity by adding around 2000 warehouses. These smaller warehouses include standalone facilities as well as those aligned with the exchanges.”
