The Union government has given nod to Kaleshwaram rail project in Telangana entailing investment worth Rs 80,000 crore.
According to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, out of the total project cost, the State government had so far invested Rs 25,000 crore on creating necessary infrastructure and tied up loans worth Rs 22,000 crores.
Seeking financial assistance worth Rs 20,000 crore from the Central government, Rao said the railway network in Telangana was below the national average.
Among the projects he brought to Centre‘s notice for early clearances included the completion of the ongoing 151.36 km Manoharabad–Kothapalli line, the 17.6-km Akannapet–Medak line and the 56.25-km Bhadrachalam Road–Sattupalli line.
He also wanted speedy action on the pending 219.64-km Kazipet–Vijayawada (3rd line with electrification), the 24.3-km Raghavapuram–Mandamari Patch tripling and the 137-km Armoor– Nirmal–Adilabad rail line.
