Rs 17,000 cr investment commitments made during Bengal Global Business Summit

Investment commitments worth Rs 17,000 crore have been made at the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), an initiative by the West Bengal government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Reliance Industries Ltd has committed Rs 5,000 crore for the state over a few years, as the group’s chairman Mukesh Ambani said the investment will be made in expanding telecom and petro-retail businesses in West Bengal.

The JSW Group has committed to invest Rs 10,000 crore over four to five years, while the Adventz Group has promised Rs 1,000 crore in a multi-modal logistics park,

Sanjiv Goenka-led CESC Ltd too will invest Rs 1,000 crore on a power distribution network. JSW is interested in sectors like paint and speciality steel, with likely manufacturing units at Salboni in West Midnapore district.
