Punjab Alkalies & Chemicals is planning to expand its Hydrogen Peroxide plant at Naya Nagal in Rupnagar district from 99,000 tpa to 2,64,000 tpa.
The project includes expansion of Chlor-Alkali plant from 300 tpd to 800 tpd. New units will come up for Flaker of 200 tpd, Stable Bleaching Powder of 100 tpd, Hydrogen Peroxide 50 tpd.
The project will also include a Coal & Biomass-based Captive Power plant of 75 MW. It will be taken up in various phases.
Punjab Alkalies & Chemicals applied for green nod in October 2018 and it received environment clearances from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 7 January 2020.
According to a Projects Today report, detailed feasibility study for the project has been completed while financial closure is underway. Civil construction work on capacity expansion from 300 tpd to 450 tpd is expected to commence soon and completed by June 2020. Contractor has not yet been appointed. The project will witness an investment to the tune of Rs 1,240 crore.
