Orient Cement to invest Rs 2,000 cr for expansion

Orient Cement, a member of the C K Birla group, will invest Rs 2,000 crore on the expansion plan for its existing plant at Devapur in Mancherial district.

Deepak Khetrapal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Orient Cement Limited, met Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday and informed him about the expansion plan.

Khetrapal requested Rama Rao to provide limestone linkage from Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation (TSMDC) for long-term requirements of the plant.

An official statement said: “The CK Birla Group company would increase the capacity of its Devapur (Mancherial) facility in Adilabad district to 7.5 million tonnes a year from the present 3.05 million tonnes.”

Rao said the government extend all the support required to facilitate the expansion plans. The company secured the preliminary clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF). The final clearance of MoEF is awaited.
