NHAI to commence work on Rs 2,000 crore road widening project in AP

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) along with the Revenue Department of Andhra Pradesh, has started the process of land acquisition for the widening of the Kadapa-Renigunta road stretch.

Currently a two-lane highway, the Kadapa-Renigunta road will be widened into a four-lane by NHAI. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,000 crore.

A detailed project report (DPR) has already been prepared. NH 716 was assigned to the state wing of NHAI as along with Kadapa, said a report in NBM&CW.

It added: “Initially, NHAI officials had decided to widen the four-lane road from RIMS Road to Renigunta but later extended the stretch from Toll-Plaza to Renigunta airport. In view of this, officials prepared the new alignment to build a four-lane road from Badawal to Krishnapatnam port in Nellore district, along the Kadapa-Renigunta road as the Krishnapatnam Port is also being used for exporting iron ore and granite from other parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema.”
