The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has accorded in-principle nod to an elevated four-lane highway between the Indian Air Force airbase at Bihta and the Shivala near Danapur.
The project is aimed at improving connectivity and AAI is planning to develop a civil enclave to operate bigger commercial flights.
Bidding process for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for the highway that would cover 14-km of the 20-km distance between Patna and the airbase was commenced by the NHAI.
Quoting Bihar road construction minister Nand Kishor Yadav, a TOI report said, “As per modern practices, a dedicated expressway is required for the vehicular traffic coming to and from the airports. The four-lane highway between Bihta and Shivala will serve this purpose for the Bihta civil enclave.”
