The Union Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) has granted environment clearance to Chenab Valley Power (CVPP) Kwar Hydroelectric project.
The project envisages construction of a concrete gravity dam near Padyarna village, an underground power station of 540 MW (four units of 135 MW each), on the right abutment of the dam adjacent to dam axis and two nos tail race tunnels of lengths 2,786 mtr and 2,963 mtr.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 4,949.24 crore and will require 136.35 ha of land. The project is scheduled to be completed in 54 months after receiving all the necessary government sanctions.
