Mawana Sugars to increase distillery capacity

The board of directors of Mawana Sugars Ltd has given in-principle approval for the installation of Incinerator Boiler, Evaporators and Bagasse shed at the company’s unit Nanglamal Sugar Complex (NSC) (Nanglamal Distillery), located at Nanglamal, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

The project will be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 29.00Crores. The board approved proposal to explore the possibility of expansion of NSC Distillery by 30 KLPD i.e. from 120 KLPD to 150 KLPD with a view to evaluating the project economics vis a vis availability of molasses, bagasse etc.

Also, the board of Mawana approved proposal to apply to Government of India, Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) for putting up a new Distillery of 120 KLPD at Mawana Sugar Works, Mawana, Uttar Pradesh, a unit of the company.

The group was incorporated by Lala Shriram in 1889.
Over the next 100 years, the group expanded into textiles, chemicals, sugar, automobiles, engines, rayons / nylon tyre cord, automotive components, edible oils, heavy chemicals (fertilizers/ chlor caustic), engineering foundries, sewing machines, fans, home appliances and other kind of items.
