K’taka govt gives nod to Boeing to set up MRO unit

The state government of Karnataka has given nod to Boeing’s plans to make aerospace components and set up a maintenance and repair facility at its aerospace SEZ near the Devanahalli airport.

Gaurav Gupta, Principal Secretary, IT, Biotech and Science and Technology, was quoted as saying by BusinessLine that the proposal has been approved by the government.

The Boeing facility will come up on about 36 acres of KIADB (Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board) land at Aerospace Park. The company is planning to build its new facility for engineering and technology with electronics/avionics manufacturing and assembly.

It was in December last year that the aircraft maker had said it would invest Rs 1,152 crore in an effort to set up an engineering and technology facility in Bengaluru.
