Jindal Stainless Group is planning to increase the cold-rolling capacity of its facility at Jaipur in Odisha, by nearly two lakh tonnes through brownfield expansion.
At present, the facility produces 4.5 lakh tonnes of cold-rolled stainless steel used in industrial applications.
Speaking to the media, Vijay Sharma, Senior Vice-President and Head of Sales, Jindal Stainless, said, “We are investing in scaling up the Jajpur capacity by two lakh tonnes in phases. The first phase of the project will commence in January 2019 and the second phase will start in June-July 2019.”
Sharma said plans are afoot to set up a unit for manufacturing long stainless steel products at its existing facility at Hisar in Haryana. Long products currently account for around 20 per cent of the nearly 2.4 mt stainless steel market in India.
