Hyderabad Metro completes pillar work of 66 km

Started more than seven years ago in April 2012, the pillar construction exercise of Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) has come to an end with the completion of the 2,599th pier at the MGBS metro station.

With this, except for the 6 km stretch in Old City, construction of all pillars for 66 km phase-1 metro project has been completed.

NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, appreciated L&T-MRHL engineers MP Naidu, Shankar Lingam, K M Rao and HMRL senior engineers and officers Mohd Ziauddin, M Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, BN Rajeswar and A Balakrishna for constructing Hyderabad Metro with least inconvenience to the public.

Stating that the construction of such a large number of pillars by blocking 30feet in the middle of the congested roads of Hyderabad was an engineering and logistics challenge, he said the team overcame major hurdles and created milestones in the huge construction activity.
