Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has awarded the first contract to Ratnamani for Rs 125 crore for the purchase of 108 km
24-inch diameter line pipes.
This is under the Barauni-Guwahati segment of the Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL)
According to reports, the line pipe procurement activities for the rest of the 600 km trunkline up to Guwahati is at an advanced
stage of the tender process.
It may be recalled that five public sector oil and natural gas companies have signed a joint venture agreement to implement a
6000-crore gas pipeline grid project in the North East. The five petroleum and natural gas PSUs are – Indian Oil Corporation
(IOCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), GAIL, Oil India Limited (OIL) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).
The JV firm will develop, build, operate and maintain the Natural Gas Pipeline Grid connecting Guwahati to the major North
Eastern cities and major load centres like Numaligarh Refinery including integrating it with gas producing fields in North East.
