Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has said a project report for the setting up of a fruit processing plant at Pragatinagar near Gumma in Shimla district would be
prepared by the government.
According to the CM, the fruit processing plant will be set up as apple crop was one of the major contributors to the economy.
In the Vidhan Sabha, intervening during the debate under rule 62 raised by Narender Bragta, Thakur said the coming up of the processing unit would be very beneficial for the
entire apple belt of Shimla district.
He further said Himachal was known as the apple state of the country and all possible efforts must be made to promote the cultivation, processing and marketing of this major
crop. “A team of officials will be sent to the site and a report will be prepared for the setting up of the unit,” he added.
