National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation has said the final detailed project report for the improvement of NH-40 between Shillong and Dawki and construction of Dawki bridge under JICA funding has been submitted.
As per the status report of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation, the road alignment has been modified following a proposal from JICA and the state government.
In principle approval of the alignment was conveyed earlier this year and the state government’s comment is awaited.
The 71.2-km road project is to be taken up at a cost of Rs 1,330 crore.
The road, which will take two and a half years to be complete after the issuing of tender, will also include a 368-m long and 12.5-m wide bridge in Dawki.
