The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has bagged a Rs 1,000 crore project to set up a convention centre, ESG building and centre for excellence for Smart City, and other revenue-generating buildings, in a 2.10 lakh square metres property located at Dona Paula in Goa.
Following an announcement by chief minister Manohar Parrikar, a steering committee has been constituted and meetings are being held every week to ensure that the convention centre and ESG complex are ready for the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India (Iffi).
According to a top official of EDC, the entire project is very important and can be compared with the Mopa airport project in terms of creation of entrepreneurial activities and job creation.
Panaji Smart City managing director and chief executive officer Swayandipta Pal Chaudhari said because he has executed similar projects on PPP basis in smart cities, his experience in the field is being roped in for the project, too.
