As part of expansion of power supply to the Left Wing Extremist infested tribal-populated areas in the state, the government of Chhattisgarh is constructing an electricity substation in Nelwad village in Narayanpur district.
The cost of project is said to be Rs 39 crore. According to a report in The Pioneer, the installation work has been carried as part of fulfilling the promise made by Chief Minister Raman Singh.
The construction of the substation will also help in attaining the goal of 100 per cent electrification given under Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya) announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Quoting officials of the energy department, the report added that Nelwad substation is of 220/132/33 KV capacity. It is expected to be completed by September.
