Leading mattress maker Centuary Fibre Plates is planning to set up greenfield plants in the western and northern region, in a bid to have a strong pan-India presence.
The company’s executive director Uttam Malani was quoted as saying by BusinessLine: “We are functioning at about 85 per cent capacity utilisation of the existing capacity of 50,000 mattresses per month. This has forced us to expand our existing facilities and to explore new plants.”
Stating that the greenfield facility will have a capacity to make 20,000 mattresses per month, he said it would entail an outlay of Rs 50 crore. “The process of identifying the location is now under way,” he added.
As against the industry growth of about 10-11 per cent, the company has been growing at a CAGR of about 18 per cent and the new plant is proposed to be set up Gujarat, Maharashtra or Rajasthan.
