Bihar urges Centre to extend Delhi-Lucknow Expressway up to Patna

The state government of Bihar has reiterated its demand to the Centre to extend Delhi-Lucknow Expressway up to Patna.

A discussion in this regard was held between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union surface transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday.

The proposed road will be part of the Purvanchal Expressway, which is providing connectivity from Delhi to Lucknow through Delhi-Agra and Agra-Lucknow Expressway.

A TOI report quoted state road construction minister Nand Kishor Yadav as saying: “The survey for extension of Delhi-Lucknow Expressway is being done by National Highways
Authority of India (NHAI).”

He added: “While a proposal is already in the pipeline for extending the expressway from Lucknow to Ghazipur, the Bihar government has requested the Centre to extend it further
to Buxar.” Yadav was present during the meeting between the CM and the Union Minister.
