Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant in Telangana gets environment clearance

Telangana State Power Generation Corporation’s (TSGenco) Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant project at Manuguru in Khammam district of Telangana has been granted environment clearance.

The plan is to set up 4 sub-critical power units of 270 mw each. It will have a power capacity of 1,080 mw.

The plant is coming up over 937 acres, of which, about 122 acres is private land while remaining is part of the government. Around 4.2 million tonnes per annum of coal is required for the facility, which will be sourced from coal mines of Singaren Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL).

The Rs.73 billion project was announced in August 2014. Earlier, it may be recalled that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had stayed the construction work of the plant in December 2015 due to lack of Environment Clearance.
