Baker Hughes wins oilfield development contract from Cairn

Baker Hughes, a GE company, has announced bagging a development contract from Vedanta’s upstream subsidiary Cairn Oil & Gas, to construct approximately 300 new wells and deploy a chemical enhanced oil recovery programme aimed at increasing production from Rajasthan.

According to a company statement, “the project marks the largest integrated project for BHGE in India, expanding its presence in the country and supporting the government’s mission of reducing dependency on imports.”

BHGE will provide an integrated scope of oilfield services and equipment, delivered in phases over the next 24 months to unlock the ‘significant untapped reserves’ at the Mangala, Bhagyamand Aishwariya (MBA) fields.

This includes all associated technology and operations to develop new wells, as well as solutions to enhance production from the existing wells. The project is intended to be delivered in phases, added the statement.
