With Andhra Pradesh emerging a hot destination for investors in electronics and other sectors, Minister for Information Technology Nara Lokesh is leaving for China in September to attract more investments in the electronics manufacturing sector.
Recently, the southern state has inked a pact with Holitech, a leading Chinese manufacturer of compact camera modules supplying exclusively to smart phone maker Xiaomi, for the establishing of its unit at Tirupati.
Quoting official sources, a report in The Hindu said the government’s objective is to make the State a hub for electronics manufacturing but not limit the scope to mobile phones. It targets to meet the requirement of even the defence establishments.
As part of this expansion binge in electronics manufacturing, the A.P. government had roped in Reliance Jio to set up its mobile phone and set-top box making unit near Tirupati in 125 acres, it added.
