40 MLD sewage treatment plant comes up at Kalaburagi

A 40 MLD capacity sewage treatment plant was inaugurated at Nandikur village on the outskirts of Kalaburagi.

Speaking after inaugurating the plant, Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha M Mallikarjun Kharge said top priority has been accorded to keeping Kalaburagi city cleaner and healthier by launching a permanent cleanliness drive, providing foolproof underground drainage (UGD) system and sewage treatment plant to avoid sewage getting mixed with drinking water and agricultural fields.

He said that tonnes of untreated sewage are let into agricultural fields with farmers being oblivious to the dangers of toxic contents in them.

Kharge further stated that regulating sewage treatment and disposal should be top priority. He said that to develop rural areas into model villages under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, the union government should release sufficient funds under various schemes.
